Frequently asked questions

Pro and purchases

What does Pro include?

Pro unlocks two tools: Splits and ETA. It is a one-time purchase — $2.99 in the United States — and not a subscription: there is no trial, no renewal and no recurring charge. Prices elsewhere are set by the App Store and shown to you before you buy.

What do I get without Pro?

Everything else, with no ads and no limits on the calculations. The four linked cards — distance, time, pace and speed — the race distance presets, independent units per row, the Share card, the eight accent themes, light and dark mode, the section layout options, the Classic interface, and the full accessibility support are all free.

I bought the app back when it was a paid download. Do I need to buy Pro?

If you bought Simple Pace Calculator between October 23, 2024 and February 3, 2025, while it was a paid app, Pro is already yours — the app grants it automatically and there is nothing to buy. If you downloaded it before that period, Pro is a separate purchase.

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

Sign in with the same Apple Account you bought Pro with and open the app; your Pro tools should already be unlocked. If they are not, open Go Pro and tap Restore Purchases.

How do I get a refund?

Purchases are handled entirely by Apple, so refunds go through the App Store rather than through us. Request one with the Apple Account you bought it with. Tell us what went wrong as well — we would rather fix it.

Using the app

Can I switch between miles and kilometers?

Yes. Tap the unit label on any card to switch it, and the numbers convert instantly. Each row keeps its own unit, so you can leave distance in kilometers while pace stays in minutes per mile.

What are Splits?

Splits turns a finish time into a pace-by-pace plan. Choose even, negative or positive splits, set how much your pace shifts across the race, and split by anything from 100 m to 10 miles — or by halves, thirds, quarters or fifths, or an interval you type in yourself. The finished table can be exported to any app. Splits is a Pro tool.

What is ETA?

ETA is for the person waiting at the roadside. Enter how far your runner has to travel to reach you, the time the race started, and the pace you expect them to hold; the app shows the clock time they will reach you and counts down to it live, and a gauge compares the pace they would need right now against the pace you expected. You can set an alert for a few minutes before they arrive, and the countdown stays on the main screen after you close the tool. ETA is a Pro tool, and a short explainer inside the app shows how it works before you buy.

How do I share my results?

Tap Share in the tool row to turn your distance, time and pace into a clean square image you can send anywhere. Share is free for everyone.

Can I time a run in the app?

No — Simple Pace Calculator is a calculator, not a stopwatch. Version 5.5.0 removed the timing feature the app used to have, because the Clock app included with iOS already does that job well and dropping ours kept the calculator focused. If you are waiting on a runner rather than timing yourself, ETA is the tool you want.

Can I get the old layout back?

Yes. Open Settings → Appearance and tap the Classic preview to return to the original interface. You can switch between Classic and the current layout as often as you like.

How do I see the first-run tips again?

Settings → About → Reset Onboarding Tips brings them back the next time you open the main screen.

Devices, privacy and languages

Which devices are supported?

Simple Pace Calculator runs on iPhone & iPad and requires iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 or later. Pro is a single purchase that covers every device signed in to the same Apple Account.

Does it work offline?

All calculations work offline — the math happens on your device and needs no connection. The only time the app reaches the network is to send anonymous usage analytics, which you can switch off in Settings.

What data does the app collect?

No ads, no tracking, no account, and your pace entries never leave your device. Anonymous usage analytics — never linked to you and never used for tracking — are on by default and can be switched off in Settings → Privacy → Anonymous Analytics.

What languages does the app support?

Seven: English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil) and Spanish. The app follows your device's language automatically.

Don't have the app yet?

Simple Pace Calculator is a free download for iPhone & iPad.
